Nutrition North
What is Nutrition North?
At Dumouchel Meat & Deli, we understand the challenges our northern customers face with the high cost of shipping. That’s why we’re proud to be a participating retailer in Canada’s Nutrition North program (NNC). This initiative ensures residents in northern communities have access to nutritious and essential food items by providing subsidies that are passed on to customers as discounts.
How Does It Work?
Nutrition North provides a list of food and non-food essentials that qualify for subsidies. These include nutritious food items like meat, as well as necessities such as diapers and hand soap. Subsidy rates vary by item. As a participating retailer, Dumouchel Meat & Deli applies these discounts directly to your order, and every invoice clearly shows the food cost and subsidy amount. (freight to be included once an account is finally set up with Canadian North Cargo)
What Items Qualify for the Subsidy?
All of Dumouchel’s high-quality meat products qualify for the subsidy. However, some items, such as dog bones and marinated products, do not. All orders are shipped frozen to ensure freshness. For a complete list of eligible items, please refer to Nutrition North’s public list.
Do I Qualify for the Nutrition North Subsidy?
Many of our northern customers are from Iqaluit, but numerous other communities qualify as well. To see if your community is eligible, check the Nutrition North list of communities.
